Biography, Life story

Hind Rostom was born on November 12, 1931, in the Moharram Bek neighborhood of Alexandria, Egypt. Her father was from a Turkish Egyptian family and was a police officer.

Her artistic debut was in 1947. In 1949, she appeared in the song “Atmakhtri Ya Khail” for two minutes as an extra riding a horse behind Laila Murad in the film “Ghazal al-Banat,” featuring Naguib Al-Rihani, Laila Murad, and Youssef Wahbi. She subsequently received small roles. Her journey to stardom began when she met director Hassan Reda, who later married her. She became known for her seductive roles in Egyptian cinema during the 1950s and was referred to by several titles, including “Queen of Seduction” and “Marilyn Monroe of the East,” due to her resemblance to the famous actress with her iconic blonde hair. Her last work was in 1979 with the film “Hayati Azab.” Over her career, she appeared in more than 74 films and decided to retire from acting completely until her death in 2011 due to a heart attack.

Hind Rostom was married twice; her first marriage was to director Hassan Reda, with whom she had her daughter, Basant. However, they later divorced, and she married Dr. Mohamed Fayyad.
