Biography, Life story
Michelle Pfeiffer was born on April 29, 1958, in Santa Ana, California. She grew up in Midway City in Orange County, about 30 miles southeast of Los Angeles. Her father is of German descent, and her mother is of Swiss descent. She attended Vista View Middle School and graduated from Fountain Valley High School in 1976. She studied for a year at Golden West Community College as a shorthand writer before leaving to pursue acting.
In 1978, she won the title of Miss Orange County and participated in the Miss California pageant, which led her to roles in commercials and small parts in films and television. She made her first major role in the film “Grease 2” in 1982, but her breakthrough came in the classic gangster film “Scarface” in 1983 alongside Al Pacino, which established her as one of the top actresses. She starred in “Dangerous Liaisons” in 1988, and in 1989, she played Suzie Diamond in “The Fabulous Baker Boys.” She appeared in several successful films such as “Ladyhawke,” “The Witches of Eastwick,” “Married to the Mob,” and “Dangerous Minds,” and is well-known for her role as Catwoman in “Batman Returns” in 1992.
Since then, Pfeiffer has maintained her status as one of Hollywood’s leading actresses, despite fewer roles in recent years. In 2000, she starred in the highly successful film “What Lies Beneath” with Harrison Ford, and in 2001, she appeared in “White Oleander.”
Pfeiffer was married to actor Peter Horton from 1981 until their divorce in 1988. She dated several actors, including Val Kilmer, John Malkovich, and Michael Keaton. She adopted a daughter, Claudia Rose, in 1992, and married writer and producer David E. Kelley in 1993, who also adopted Claudia Rose. They welcomed their son, John Henry, in 1994.
She has been named one of the 50 most beautiful people in the world by People Magazine in 1991, 1992, 1993, and 1996.
