Biography, Life story

Born on December 28, 1981, in New York City, New York, Sienna Miller’s father, Edward Miller, was an American banker turned Chinese art dealer, while her mother, Josephina “Joe” Miller, is South African with English roots and works as an acting teacher at the Lee Strasberg Institute in London. She has a sister named Savannah, who is a fashion designer, as well as two half-brothers, Charles and Stephen, and a half-sister named Natasha Corrett, her father’s daughter from his second wife, Kelly Hoppen.

Sienna moved with her family to London when she was one year old, where she attended Francis Holland School from age 4 to 11, then went to a boarding school in Ascot, Berkshire, at St. Mary’s Hall, before returning to New York for a year at the Lee Strasberg Institute to study acting.

At the start of her career, she worked as a photographic model, collaborating with Tandy Anderson and modeling for Coca-Cola, Italian magazine Vogue, and the Pirelli calendar. Her relationships with fashion designers led to her being recognized for her boho-chic style, with many comparing her to supermodel Kate Moss. She signed a two-year contract with Baby Jeans London, appearing in her first advertisements in 2006. In 2009, Hugo Boss announced Sienna Miller as the new ambassador to promote the company’s latest fragrance, Boss Orange.

In the early days of her acting career, she appeared in several plays in New York City, including “The Offender” and “Cigarettes & Chocolate.” In 2001, she made her film debut in “South Kensington,” alongside Robert Everett and Elle Macpherson, before starring in two films in 2001: “High Speed” and “Joy Ride.” In 2003, she appeared in the drama-action series “Keen Eddie.” In 2004, she had a leading role in the remake of the 1966 film “Alfie,” starring alongside Jude Law, and appeared in “Casanova” with Daniel Craig. In 2005, she made her professional theater debut in the West End production of Shakespeare’s “As You Like It,” with Helen McCrory and Dominic West, playing the lead role of Rosalind. She starred opposite the late Heath Ledger in “Casanova.” In 2006, she appeared in “Factory Girl,” which tells the story of Andy Warhol and Edie Sedgwick. In 2007, she played a minor role in the fantasy epic “G.I. Joe,” and starred in “Interview,” directed by Steve Buscemi, as well as in “Camille,” a little-known comedy that did not gain wide release due to a late DVD launch. In 2008, she played Caitlin, the wife of Welsh poet Dylan Thomas, in “The Edge of Love,” adapted from Michael Chabon’s “The Mysteries of Pittsburgh,” starring Peter Sarsgaard and Keira Knightley. In 2009, she portrayed The Baroness in the action film “G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra,” which has been Miller’s highest-grossing film to date, and she participated in the satirical musical “Mamma Mia!” with Donna French and Jennifer Saunders.

In 2007, she began designing for Baby Jones, a line named “Twenty8Twelve,” inspired by her birth date, with help from her sister Savannah.
