Biography, Life story

Alia Bhatt was born on March 15, 1993, in Mumbai, India. Her father, Indian director Mahesh Bhatt, is of Gujarati descent, while her mother, actress Soni Razdan, is from Kashmir and has German roots. She has an older sister named Shaheen, born in 1988, and two half-siblings, Pooja Bhatt and Rahul Bhatt. Alia received her education at Jamnabai Narsee School in Mumbai.

Alia began her artistic career in Bollywood films in 2012, although her first appearance was as a young girl (Preeti) in the film Sangharsh in 1999, starring Akshay Kumar and Preity Zinta. Her first significant role, which brought her success, was as Shanaya in the successful romantic comedy Student of the Year in 2012, alongside Siddharth Malhotra and Varun Dhawan, directed and produced by Karan Johar. The film achieved tremendous success at the box office.

She then played a teenage role in the film Highway in 2014, where she is kidnapped and falls in love with her kidnapper while being taken through mountainous roads. Alia received positive reviews from critics and won the Filmfare Award for Best Actress, and she was also nominated for another award at the same ceremony. She began to establish herself in Bollywood, starring in the romantic film 2 States the same year, and played leading roles in the romantic comedy Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania and the drama Kapoor & Sons in 2016. In the same year, she portrayed an immigrant struggling with poverty in the film Udta Punjab.

In addition to acting in films, Alia Bhatt has also sung three songs in one of her films. She is a theater enthusiast and is interested in fashion shows, having launched her own collection of ready-to-wear women’s clothing.
