Biography, Life story
Layal Abboud (ليال عبود) was born on May 15, 1982, in Tyre, South Lebanon. A Southern Lebanese voice, she began her career in 2001-2002 with the program “Studio El Fan.” She holds a Master’s degree in English literature, translation, expression, and art from three universities. Known for her warm and melodic voice, she sings various genres of Lebanese folk music, such as “Dabke,” “Mijana,” and “Ataba,” creating a unique atmosphere that resonates with her audience. However, she is also known for her seductive performances in concerts and music videos, which some critics perceive as provocative. She defends herself by stating that she communicates through body language and emotion rather than mere sensuality.
In her early career, she was accused of imitating Lebanese singer Nancy Ajram, but Layal maintains her artistic independence and insists that she has established a unique artistic identity. Her artistic portfolio includes three albums, approximately 25 songs in various themes and dialects (Lebanese, Egyptian, Gulf, and Iraqi), and 18 music videos, most of which are produced independently. She has collaborated with many notable directors, including Walid Nasif, Fadi Haddad, Randi Qadi, Jad Sawaya, and Jean Richa. Layal has received numerous awards in Lebanon and the Arab world, as well as honorary shields from military and security forces due to her ongoing activities with the Lebanese Armed Forces.
