Alyssa Milano was born on December 19, 1972, in Brooklyn, New York. She grew up in Staten Island and follows the Roman Catholic faith. She comes from Italian-American parents; her father, Thomas M. Milano, is a music editor and boating enthusiast, and her mother, Lynn, is a fashion designer and talent manager. She is the older sister of Cory (born in 1982), who is also an actor.

Alyssa entered the acting field at the age of 8 after appearing in the Broadway show “Annie” in 1980. She then appeared in commercials and other works outside Broadway. At age 11, she landed her first major role as Samantha Micelli in the sitcom “Who’s the Boss?” (1983) alongside Tony Danza, Judith Light, Danny Pintauro, and Katherine Helmond. After landing this role, her family moved from Staten Island to Hollywood.

In 1985, she played Jenny Matrix, the daughter of John Matrix (Arnold Schwarzenegger), in the film “Commando.” A few years after the film’s release in Japan, a producer excitedly offered Alyssa a deal to produce five albums for her. She produced a teen video in 1988 titled “Teen Steam.” Alyssa played Phoebe Halliwell in the series “Charmed” and has a women’s clothing line called “Touch.”
