Cameron Diaz was born on 30 August 1972 in San Diego, California, United States. She grew up in a family of Cuban origin and is considered to be of third generation, since her grandfather came from Cuba to live in America, yet she cannot speak Spanish. Her father, Emilio, worked as a foreman for an oil company, and her mother was an American of German English descent.
Cameron Diaz worked as a model from 1988 to 1993, having left her parents’ home since she was 16, and moved around the world in countries such as Japan, Australia, Mexico and Morocco. She moved to the world of acting since 1994, where she returned home at the age of 21 when she landed her first role in Jim Carrey’s film The Mask in 1994. In 1995 she starred in the drama film “Last Dinner”, in 1996 and as evidence of her impact in four consecutive films, two in 1997 and three the following year.
