Biography, Life story

Khaled Elsawy was born on November 25, 1963, in Alexandria, Egypt. He obtained a law degree from Cairo University in 1985 and later earned a bachelor’s degree in film directing from the Academy of Arts in 1993. He briefly worked as a lawyer before transitioning to the film industry as an assistant director and then a television director for Nile International and other specialized channels. He began his acting career in university theater and co-founded the Egyptian Society for Amateur Theater. As a director, his notable works include the plays “The Party of Madmen” and “The Operetta of the Drifters,” for which he won the Timour Award for theatrical creativity in 1991 and 1992, respectively. He also worked on the series “Dreams of a Lifetime” and is known as a story and theater writer, as well as a poet, having assisted in directing several films.

Khaled is a member of the “Kefaya” movement, which raised the slogan “No to Renewal, No to Inheritance,” and he was one of the prominent participants in the January 25, 2011 revolution. He is also a talented poet with many revolutionary poems such as “As if It’s the End of History,” “Get Out Now,” and “I Want to Live,” which can all be found on his blog. In Ramadan 2016, he achieved significant success in the series “Hiya and Da Vinci” alongside actress Laila Elwi.
