After that, he moved to the Virtue Party, which he attended in 2001, so Erdogan seized the opportunity to defect from it with some of his companions, including Abdullah Gul, and establish the Justice and Development Party. And development will preserve the foundations of the republican system and will not enter into quarrels with the Turkish armed forces and will follow a clear and active policy in order to reach the goal drawn by Atatürk to establish a civilized and contemporary society within the framework of Islamic values ​​in which 99% of Turkey’s citizens believe. In 2003, his party won the majority of the seats in the Turkish parliament, and he was unable to occupy the position of president at the time because of the consequences of his imprisonment.
