Nadir Khayat, better known as RedOne, was born on April 9, 1972 in Tetouan, Morocco. At the age of 16, when he was listening to The Final Countdown to a song by Swedish rock band Europe released in 1986, he decided to move to Sweden to study music.
Beginning in Sweden and Europe
He started producing pop music in Europe at the beginning of the 21st century. After several attempts to produce successful music, the songs “I Wish” and “Little Mama” were very popular in Canada, recorded by RNB singer Carl Henry. He also won a Swedish Grammy Award and the title of Best Scandinavian Song of the Year, for the song “Step Up”, working at the time with fellow musician Bilal Hajji.
In 2006, he returned to the spotlight again with the song “Bamboo” with Colombian singer Shakira, which became the “official tune” for the 2006 FIFA World Cup. He also performed a remix of Shakira’s “Hips Don’t Lie” with Wycliffe Jane.
