Biography, Life story
Rima Maktabi was born on 4 July 1977 in Beirut, the capital of Lebanon. Her father was killed in the Civil War at the age of three, when she finished high school she was preparing to enter the university to study engineering. However, in 1996 she entered the media realm on Future Television in Lebanon, which changed her orientation. She entered the Lebanese American University where she received a diploma in journalism and a master’s degree in international relations.
She spent five years on Future Television, presenting the weather, then as a presenter of art and entertainment programmes (Telly Art of the Morning World, Open Night, Showfa and Khada Competitions Programme, covering Hala February Festival in Kuwait in 1999, Anas Night with the actor Yakhar, Rima Win, Owners), until 2001.
She did not like working in entertainment programmes and moved to the written press to work in the investigation section of the Peruvian newspaper Al-Nahar in 2002.
She moved to Al-Arabiya Satellite Channel after covering Israel’s war on Lebanon in 2006. He then moved to the channel’s studios in Dubai to serve as a news anchor, then moved in 2007 to work on CNN to present a programme (within the Middle East), and two years later she returned to Al Arabiya in 2012.
