Selma Blair was born on June 23, 1972, in Southfield, Michigan, United States. She studied at Kalamazoo College, the University of Michigan, and New York University. She began acting by appearing in an episode of the television series The Adventures of Pete & Pete in 1995. Her first film was The Broccoli Theory, followed by Brain Candy in 1996. Since then, she has had a series of roles in cinema and television, and she has also performed in theater. She married Ahmet Zappa in 2004 and separated in 2006 after a brief marriage that lasted less than two years.
