Biography, Life story

Tamer Abdel Moneim was born on January 12, 1973, in Cairo, Egypt. He graduated from the High Institute of Cinema, Department of Screenwriting. He worked in theatre with the artist Adel Imam, participating in the play “Al-Za’eem” from 1993 to 1999 and in the play “Bodyguard” in 1999. He also collaborated with comedian Mohamed Nagy in the play “Kahion Rabah Al-Million.” He served in the Egyptian Armed Forces in the Air Force from 2000 to 2001. He participated in many films in supporting roles, including collaborations with Ahmed Zaki in the film “Akhk Al-Sora Tetla’ Helwa” in 2002 and “Ma’aly Al-Wazir” in the same year, before leading his first role in the film “Al-Moshakhasy” in 2002.

Tamer Abdel Moneim married Hanan Farid El-Dib and has two daughters: Karma and Salma.

He held several positions and faced heavy criticism when appointed as the head of the Cinema Culture Palace in 2006 in Garden City. He established and edited “Abyad wa Aswad,” the first quarterly cinematic magazine issued by the Egyptian Ministry of Culture in 2008. He served as an artistic advisor for Video Cairo Sat and was the executive director of Modern Channels from 2008 to 2009. He writes a weekly article every Sunday in Al-Ahram Al-Masai newspaper. He also worked as a lecturer in the Screenwriting Department at the Free Cinematic Studies Institute at the Cinema Culture Palace.
