She has a Turkish father and a Circassian mother, and she is the sister of actress Shahinaz. She was discovered at the Sporting Club in Alexandria and initially worked in tragic roles before being recognized by director Fateen Abdel Wahab, who saw her unique talent in comedy. She rose to fame in the 1960s, starring in numerous plays and films alongside Fouad El-Mohandes, and she also appeared on radio.<\/p>\n
Shwikar married accountant Hassan Nafea, and after his passing, she married actor Fouad El-Mohandes, forming one of the most notable duos in the history of Egyptian cinema. They later divorced, and she married writer Medhat Youssef.<\/p>\n
