Her father, Peter Watts, was a sound engineer and concert promoter who worked with the famous British band Pink Floyd. Her mother, Myfanwy Edwards, had several roles in the film industry, including costume designer, set designer, antiques dealer, and makeup artist for television commercials. Her parents divorced when she was four, and she and her brother, Ben, moved several times with their mother in northern England. In 1974, her father left Pink Floyd and reconciled with her mother shortly after. Two years later, her father was found dead in an apartment due to a heroin overdose.
