Yvonne Strahovski was born on July 30, 1982, in Campbelltown, a suburb of Sydney, Australia. She is the daughter of Polish immigrants, with her father (Peter) working as an electrical engineer and her mother (Bozena Strahovski) employed in a chemical laboratory. She began acting in school plays, performing the role of Viola in “Twelfth Night.” She graduated from Western Sydney University in 2003. She is fluent in both Polish and English, although she has only used Polish in a few episodes of the series “Chuck.”

After graduating, she started acting in Australia in various programs and films. Her debut was in the show “Double the Fist,” followed by the drama series “Headland” and “Sea Patrol.” In 2007, while in the U.S. for auditions, she submitted a tape for the American series “Chuck,” landing the role of Sarah Walker. Despite her Australian accent, she adopted an American accent for the role.

She has also lent her voice to several video games, including the first and second parts of “Mass Effect.”
